Life, Captured!

Published!

My work published on the cover of The Little Pink Book! A Prom resource book created by LeeAnn Sandberg of Rissy Roo’s Store.

LeeAnn and I worked together back in 2010 as I covered their fashion show on the rooftop of Harrah’s Pool in Atlantic City

She contacted me on November 8, 2011 to ask if I was interested in shooting the cover for their first annual Little Pink Book. I of course was very honored to have been asked!

LeeAnn told me how very pleased they had been with the fashion show images, that she would have never thought of having anyone else do this.

I thought this was so sweet

So as Rissy Roo’s held a public cover girl contest via their Facebook page, I showed up on December 11, 2011 with my first stop being at Salon Oh! for the hair and make up session then on to the Atlantic City boardwalk where we had our shoot with the winner, the gorgeous, Miss Sara Garces.

2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for my blog.

Below are the results, THANK YOU to everyone who visits and supports me and my work!

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 9,500 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.  Click here to see the complete report.

A celebration of hope

In May of 2010 I took it upon myself to give back as an artist and a mother to a child suffering from Leukemia since August 2008

Name: Danny

Age: now 6

Date: Nov 3rd Day of celebration!

I remember when his grandmother told me that I and the families who participated raised enough monies for a medical treatment for Danny! I cried!

Please read the most recent journal entry by his mother at his Caringbridge site this says it all

Congratulations to Danny and his family!

May this be the beginning of a life full of health and happiness for this entire family!

God Bless, and let us all count our blessings

Please leave your comments I am sure Danny will love to read them :)

The Gift

The D Family took a chance on me back in 2007. I then was just a year into my photo biz and learning all the ropes with these new digital cameras.

I remember the phone call, a quirky but feminine voice asking for coverage of her son’s first birthday party. She googled Photographers in Manahawkin and found me. I believe the D Family was my second paying client. I was so nervous i would get ahead of myself and think as she was talking, how am I gonna answer her questions? What if she asks something I don’t have an answer for? Omg what mess am I in? All this while the other part of my brain was concentrating on her voice.

The one question I did hear was if I had done many birthdays, what do I say? I said the truth that this would be my first professional (meaning paid) event coverage. Aside from taking pictures in my own families events that was it. So I totally expected her to say something like thanks for your time and I will call if I decide to do this. But what she said was, “your hired” Gave me the details of her son’s DJ’s birthday party and the rest is history.

Five years later and I have been the exclusive photographer for DJ’s birthdays, their family holiday ports and now we are welcoming a little brother for DJ! We are all so excited!

So being the generous (and if you know me you know I can be very generous) person that I am :) last week I came across a catalog with gorgeous Spa Baskets I thought this is perfect for Mrs.D just before baby J arrows she can use a Lavender spa relaxation escape!

It arrived today, I could not get to the phone, I listened to her VM and she could not be more grateful, as she spoke through her tears, for the special gift I sent. Added how much she loved me and was just in awe and was literally speechless.

I returned her call immediately she answered I asked “are you done crying now”? Lol
Then I ended up teary eyed too.

Baby J arrives in just a couple of weeks so look out for their holiday portrait session blogged.

What a special place all my families hold in my heart :)

I thank you all for taking a chance.

Fun winter shoot, Ms. Kat and the 60mm Macro

So today I had to bid farewell to the Canon 60F2.8 Macro lens, if you been keeping up you know its a rental, but not till I had my take on it as a portrait lens. I have to say it is fantastically sharp and fast for the most part! Love it as a portrait lens, a little fishing for focus but not as much as the infamous 100F2.8 IS Macro. I probably would not use in low light for this fact, but in good light, outdoors, excellent! Oh and we had the best weather today hence the sun flare between 2:30-4 pm

I also used the 24-70F2.8 so look for which lens I used under images

Thank you Ms. Kat for having me capture you in this gorgeous winter session at the Jersey Shore and letting me play with the lens

Fall & Canon 60mm Macro

What I found on my evening walk, in which I should have worn gloves! It was cold, but I managed to capture the feeling. I also rented the Canon 60mm Macro which these were all taken with and I don’t know why i ever hesitated trying it out, OH maybe cause I would find out I LOVED it :)   Using again this coming week on a winter beach session with the lovely Ms. Kat she will be all covered up this time lol but still oh so sexy! Stay tuned!

For now enjoy the fall scenery & some randomness thanks!

Then I just played with that macro with other subjects

I love me some colored sprinkles on my ice cream!

OH Yea!! That sensation!

Love this lens!

What else can I say, and to know it cost way less that 1K is a good thing!

Remember stay tuned for Ms. Kat later in the week, Ciao!

ABOVE IMAGE WAS DELETED BY FB SO JUST ADDED HERE, MAYBE TOO HOT TO HANDLE? lol

And it got friskier, but those are for HIS eyes only!

Still rocking that 24-70F2.8 lens with the Canon 1Ds MKII
